The Professor's Lesson

It was my third year at university and I was already feeling the pressure of exams. One of the most demanding courses, which no one wanted to fail, was that of Professor Georgiou. At 40 years old, he had an imposing presence. Tall, with a serious gaze, always dressed in a suit, and a voice that demanded attention. He was the type of man who commanded respect and a subtle nervousness.

On the day of the exam, I left the hall with mixed feelings. I had done my best, but deep down I knew it wouldn't be enough. The following week, the results confirmed my fears. I had not passed.

"Ms. Konstantinou," the professor said seriously when I went to speak to him in his office, "your grade shows you did not fully grasp the material. But, if you are willing to work harder, perhaps we can find a solution."

His voice had an almost paternal tone, but his gaze was different, more intense.

"I'll do whatever it takes, Professor," I replied, perhaps a bit more intensely than necessary.

He smiled slightly at me, in that way that creates mixed feelings of security and challenge. "Good, then. I will give you some additional exercises and we can organize some meetings to discuss them."

The meetings began the following week. At first, everything was strictly professional. The professor was precise, demanding, but always fair. However, as the weeks passed, I began to notice a change. His gaze lingered on me a little longer than necessary. And I, without realizing it, found myself taking a little more care with my appearance before each meeting.

One day, after we finished analyzing a difficult exercise, he smiled broadly. "Ms. Konstantinou, I see you are starting to understand better. You pleasantly surprise me."

"I'm doing my best, Professor," I said, but my voice betrayed a subtle hint of playful confidence.

"And it shows," he replied, while his gaze met mine with an imperceptible warmth.

Not much needed to be said. There was a tension in the air, a feeling that neither he nor I could ignore.

The next afternoon, he called me to his office for another meeting. When I entered, the space was quieter than usual, and the twilight light gave a warm tint to everything. We sat down to work again, but this time, the distances decreased.

His voice was lower, almost a whisper. And when, by chance, our hands met over the papers, neither of us pulled ours away.

"You are smarter than you think," he said, with a look that made my heart beat faster.

The next minute, his hand rose gently to my shoulder. "Sometimes, lessons are not just for grades," he added, smiling.

He looked at me for a moment and then moved closer. The kiss was soft, almost hesitant at first, but as the moments passed, the tension between us became more intense.

His hands were firm, but tender. He guided me to the small sofa he had in his office. Time passed like lightning, with our chemistry guiding our every move. Everything happened in an almost natural way, as if it were destined. There was nothing rushed or excessive. It was an experience full of passion, but also understanding.

When it was all over, I stayed close to him for a while. "Sometimes, the most important lessons are the ones you don't expect," he said, smiling at me.

It was an experience I will never forget, and perhaps the most... special "exam" I ever took in my life.
